Tilapia Fillet 7-9 oz (Pack of 2, Vacuum Sealed)
Fish Facts: Tilapia, also known as “St. Peter’s Fish”, is a commercially and biologically significant fish. Tilapia is the 4th most consumed fish in the USA and is an 11700-million-dollar industry. Other than being farmed for food, Tilapia have been used around the world as a control measure for aquatic plant problems. Duckweed and filamentous algae can negatively affect the surrounding environment by deoxygenating the water and blocking out sunlight. Tilapia effectively tackle these issues by consuming the weeds and filtering algae through their gills.
Taste/Cooking: Tilapia is a lean white fish; the texture is firm and flakey with a mild fish flavour. Not only is this fish an excellent source of protein, but also vitamin B12, Phosphorus, and Selenium. Common methods of preparation include baking, steaming, pan frying, or grilled. This fish would pair well with our Maple Dijon, Miso Paste, Garlic & Dill, as well as others.
