Fish Facts: To put it simply, caviar is the roe (eggs) of fish that have been lightly processed by the addition of salt. Our Rainbow Trout Caviar uses roe taken exclusively from farmed trout from Denmark. Trout roe are smaller than average with a bright reddish-orange color. They are firm to the touch and pop when slight pressure is applied. This salty delicacy is highly versatile in its uses and is an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids.
Taste/ Cooking: The flavour of Rainbow Trout Caviar starts off briny with a mild piscine taste, followed by a sweet finish. Rainbow Trout Caviar is a great option for putting atop of an unsalted cracker or toast to enjoy as is. It can also be incorporated into a sauce, salad, or sushi to give a contrast of color and textures.
