Despite its name, this product contains little to no crab whatsoever. Instead, it is made up of minced fish, referred to as Kamabako in Japanese. Typically, this ground fish mixture is made from Pollock, then other fillers and flavors are added to achieve its unique flavor and texture.
Taste and Cooking: Crab surimi sticks are known for their delicate, smooth, and meaty texture. Its flavour starts off briny and finishes sweet with a familiar crab-like flavour. Imitation crab is a versatile ingredient that can be served in a roll or over rice like poke. They can be incorporated into a dip/ sauce as well as be battered and fried.
