Fish Facts: Basa is a type of Catfish that is native to Southeast Asia. The size and flavor of the fish are mainly due to its diet which consists of shellfish, crustaceans, and small fish.
Taste/Cooking: When compared to Cod or Haddock, the texture is quite similar consisting of large white flake that are firm. The flavour of Basa is mild and is good for first time fish eaters. Having a mild flavor makes the fish exceptionally adaptable to all flavours and cooking methods. Preferred methods of preparation include pan searing, baking, broiling, or steaming. This fish would couple well with our Japanese Togarashi, Cajun, Garlic & Dill, as well as others.
